The annual children's Christmas party will be held on the 17th of Dec 2011 from 1pm to 4pm. Forms are available at the Post if you are not on the mailing list. You may send your request to me at ptracey148@comcast.net and I will add you to the list and let you know I received your e-mail. The party is open to children and grand-children of Legion members, SAL members, Auxilliary and Riders. The age limit is up to 12. The annual members Christmas party will held that night at the Post. Make plans for this one as we will be having roast beef, music and dancing if you so desire for a $5pp donation. Watch the bulletin board for more info. CT
Honor Guard needed for Pearl Harbor Day, to be celebrated on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at the VFW on Essex Street in Whitman. All are required in uniform by 8:30AM at the VFW Post 697. Ceremony at 9:00AM.
SAL Fundraiser at Barrett's Haunted Mansion was a success and everyone that participated did an excellent job, as reported to me by FO Ken Lailer.
06/24/11 Joe Marzilli's (Sgt @ Arms) long fight is not over but he is resting comfortably at home and making progress walking. He would like very much to hear from members and can be reached at home at 508-588-4296

The Son's election of officers took place on Wednesday, May 25th, 2011. The new officers are as follows: John Coughlin Commander, Donnie Westhaver Sr. Vice Cmdr, Ed Kiernan Jr. Vice Cmdr, Scott Martello Adjutant, Ken Lailer Financial Officer, Paul Nevins Historian, Joe Marzilli Sergeant at Arms, & Rick Nutt Advisor.
The SAL Sgt @ Arms is still undergoing treatment for cancer in his leg(s). He just finished with one operation and more was found in the other leg. He has a physical therapist visit him at home along with a visiting nurse.
